xman thats a tough but fair post...

im not here to claim myself as the expert of all things football ... sometimes i take a position to its illogical extreme - remember im just doing this for food for thought - talkin football and all.

as for Vilma vs Demorrio one could call me an arrogent loser who talks out of his ass, but i prefer to characterize my predraft posts as "floating smokescreens so that the JETS got their man."

    ;)

to be fair i called this in feb... im not gonna dig it out but its clear Vilma's leadership filled a need on the lifeless JETS D. If he starts out playin WLB in a 3-4 15-20 snaps a game that's better than fine, its great.

all im saying is MLB or ILB - where he playing in Miami... he's not ready... he may never be ready.

4th and Goal if im Zack Crockett im lookin for rookie LB Jon Vilma cause i have 40 pounds on him.

3 years from now i pray that statement is false. but right now ...

Those are facts? Hell, I guess I could say that actually the Jets wanted to trade up and take Eli Manning at number one too because they realize Pennington will never be a good qb and that would be fact too huh? Until I hear it come from the front office, it is all just speculation. But if it makes you feel better about things, keep scouring articles and interviews.
I'm sure belibumbles will come out and say he wanted the kid who went to the Jets

Dude be serious, Peter King said it "AFTER THE DRAFT WAS OVER" so it wasn't some planted smokescreen by belly before the fact so that Wilfat would fall to him.

What motivation would King have in spilling out a fabrication like that especially considering his friendship with belibumbles?
Last year he said just that, that Drob was the consensus best Dlineman. And i think he would say that Vilma was the consensus best LB in this years draft.

Although you are right in that most patriot fans did not give Vilma much thought as he does not really fit the mold of a 3-4 backer. I dont think any patriot fan is dissing Vilma.

I am also in the camp that BB would not have traded up for Vilma and that if both he and Wilfork were there , he would have picked Wilfork and as a fan i would rather have wilfork than Vilma. Do I think BB talked well of Vilma, sure, he was the best LB in this years draft. Could Peter King as a writer sized up this to jump to the conclusion that BB would be willing to trade up for him, probally. Does anyone really think that a HC/GM would tell a writer that he would be interested in trading up for a guy?

The Pats are a better team with Vince Wilfork than they would have been with Vilma. The pick that I didn't like that they made was Ben Watson. I think they would have been better served by picking up a WR there.

Jenkins and Woods went right in their face. They probably take either guy over Watson. Maybe we got lucky there.

    Than again, maybe not.

What are you a personal trainer or a nutriotionalist? Let Vilma and the trainers decide what he needs to put on we as posters have no idea what we are talking about.

husker he bulked up for his pro day but has since shrunk back to the 223 number listed on NYJ.com - it would be safe to assume he's in the 4.5 range again...
Stop quoting this as if this is the end-all fact... You have NO CLUE what Vilma weighs as he checked in with the Jets, and THIS stat DOES NOT PROVE it, either.
It's the most recent statistic there is. Whatever you have dug up is not as recent as something that came out TODAY. Quit being so damn stubborn, man. Look at that pic of Vilma, does he look like he is 235 pounds?

this is what our rookie backer looks like:

slim, willowey - in one word - undersized.

Right now, he's not even close to starter-caliber physicality.
lol good one richard...

if the guy has good speed and quickness as well as excellent tackling skills hes going to be darting all over the field grabbing legs.

    not to worry.....

flow notice that none of those pictures featured a member of any offensive line

what a guy does in school isn't ever enough for him to dominate the same way on the next level

players have to take that next step... for Vilma to dominate in the NFL he will need bulk... that's all im saying.

there is no such thing as "new breed" of backer - new breed is same as the old breed.

Barton is our biggest LB, Vilma certainly looks the part in this pic.

I mean, since we are dissecting mini-camp pics and all..

The JETS nutrionist will put him on the right diet where he will bulk up with even more strength.

Vilma hasn't been 223 lbs for 2 years. I don't care WHAT newspaper reports an old profile...

Look on the bright side.

Chances are very slim that he doesn't lose any more weight during one of Hermy's training camps. ;)
