Kerry Rescued by New York Times

Whew. That was close. Earlier this week, Hanoi John’s campaign looked like a goner.

First was the disastrous interview with Charlie Gibson on Good Morning America, where HJ came off as a truculent, arrogant jerk lying through his teeth.

Then came the $1,000 Haircut, with HJ flying his personal hairdresser from Washington to a speaking event in Pennsylvania in Tuh-RAY-zuh’s $35 million private jet for a hair “touchup.” (Note: That’s what the press calculated -- flying a Gulfstream V from DC to PA and back costs thousands of dollars alone.)

The third whammy came when the Village Voice ran an op-ed titled “John Kerry Must Go.” Here’s an excerpt:

With the air gushing out of John Kerry's balloon, it may be only a matter of time until political insiders in Washington face the dread reality that the junior senator from Massachusetts doesn't have what it takes to win and has got to go.

When the Village Voice -- that ultimate bastion of chi-chi-goo-goo liberalism -- pronounces a Democrat politically deceased, call for the hearse.

And these are only three examples of a legion of doom and gloom articles permeating the liberal alphabet media. I was beginning to panic. They’re figuring it out that Kerry will be lucky to carry Massachusetts, the Dem power boys are going to dump him for sure, he’ll never make it through the nominating convention in late July... these were the worry-wort thoughts racing through my brain. And then the Gray Lady came to the rescue.

Kerry Turns Tables on Bush and Cheney Over War Records blared a front page headline in the New York Times on April 27, just in the nick of time. This puff piece, touting a “provocative four-page handout headlined, ‘Key Unanswered Questions: Bush's Record in the National Guard’” passed out by campaign staff, was a signal to all the Kerry-doubters in the liberal ranks to keep flogging Kerry’s dead horse.

As long as the NYT keeps flogging away, there’s still hope the “Dim Dems” won’t recognize Kerry is DOA, even in the face of evidence like op-eds popping up all over the country describing Kerry and his wife as “The Gigolo and the Gold Digger.”

Or try this on: Without irony or sarcasm, the Democrat-leaning The Hill magazine (as in Capitol Hill, a report that goes out to all Congressional offices) ran this item today, April 30:

Sen. John Kerry's (D-Mass.) presidential campaign is assembling a "Team B" group of advisors to craft a political strategy for catastrophic events, such as a terrorist attack on the United States before the election, the capture of Osama bin Laden, a vast improvement in the economy, or any other event that could alter the political zeitgeist in 2004.

So -- the Democrats look upon the capture of Bin Laden or a vast improvement in the economy as a catastrophe, equivalent to a terrorist attack on their country.

Rest assured. As long as the New York Times remains blinded by bitterness towards the Bush Presidency, the resolute march of the Democrats to Kerry Hara-Kiri in November will continue.

why not? if their leader was just detained...i think they will go crazy...im not saying it should even have an impact on what is going on with catching him or anything...but i just think his followers would go crazy and just started blowin s**t up all over the place...

but hey...you probly don't have an answer...you just want to believe it won't happen...

Well, I have an answer. The reason a potential Bin Laden capture will not result in a mammoth Terrorist Offensive is rather simple:

If they had the ability to be "blowin s**t up all over the place" they would not be waiting to use such an abillity. They are not waiting for some grand event, like the capture of the leader (who is likely already dead, albeit from his own medical conditions) to launch attacks.

While they may have operatives here in the US or other allied nations, I doubt they are in position (al least not yet) to destory anything major, otherwise they would have already attacked.

For example, if they thought they could produce ANOTHER 9-11 event, what purpose would they have in waiting? The level of "Ambient Fear and Terror" is already MUCH lower than it has been. If they could reform that superhigh level of terror in the US again, they would do it, and do it now, not later.

i believe they could easily attack many times more than they have...they do wait for specific times to do it...and while they may be planning attacks now, when their leader goes down they are going to throw anything and everything they have in attacks, as much or as little as that is...im not saying that it will be A HUGE ATTACK like that one on the world trade center, but it may be a bunch of smaller less intense uncoordinated attacks...but i still think they will attack as much as they can...

well you're a fool for one thing..possibly in socialist nations like Spain or countries that sympathize or capitulate with terrorists like france or germany it could happen again but if they were able to land any sort of attack on American soil the padt two-and-a-half years it would've already happened, as warfish stated.

Personally I think the CIA/FBI is working overtime to prevent a repeat of their failures from 2001. They have a beat on the scumbag terrorists (those people you and WCM look up to) and will pounce on these pieces of sh!t when the time is right.

The Lackawana six and others are proof. Nailing some dude named Jose Padilla to Al-queda was a major victory for our (those of us proud to be American that is) intelligence agencies.

actually...i live about 30 minutes from where the lackawanna seven were located and it was the local police who did it not the fbi or anything...a neighbor called because they saw them bringing weapons into the house...it wasn't any great investigative work...

and if you don't think they are planning you are crazy...how long did they wait between the previous 2 on american soil...quite a while...

and when did i say i looked up to terrorists? i said that i didn't care who died...BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW THEM...i said i didn't care if they were american or not...BECAUSE I DON'T DISCRIMINATE ON HOW IMPORTANT A LIFE IS BASED ON WHERE YOU WERE BORN...

just because you are stupid nationalist, don't blame me :)

STOP IT! Think of what you just wrote! Are you European. Do you make decisions in your life based on fear? What happens when he's caught is irrelevant. Remember what happened when he wasnt hauled in. 9/11. IRRELEVANT!

I saw what you wrote. My point is your statement is the ramblings of an appeaser. Personally, I'd be more scared of what would happen if we didnt catch OBL. If this country shows fear the enemy would be emboldened. Thats when all hell would break loose. As for your fear of reprisals, rest assured that the enemy is focusing 100 percent of their energy on attacking us currently. They do not need any event to get them working harder. They're working their hardest right now.

I really doubt that...as soon as their leader is killed I promise you that they will go crazy...maybe not huge events like 9/11 but there will still be events...does it matter to me if they happen? not really either way...

why do you care if i think about a possibility of the future? why do you even care what i think? if you only want to think about the good stuff go ahead, ill continue thinking about the positives AND the negatives...

all i was saying was it was a possibility...am i scared of future terrorist attacks? not at all...why should i? who is going to attack a tiny town on lake erie with 1500 people? not many people...thats who...

    love

WTC in '93, I agree. The fact of the matter is two years later the Taliban took over Afgahnistan and had use of the entire country for six years which they used to train for terrorists events; they no longer have that.

And while some may argue they are training in parts of Pakistan, SA, etc, it is not on the scale where they had the availability to train, hold press conferences, openly recruit, etc when they were in charge of Afgahn.

Back to the point of this thread, its pathetic that John Kerry's team considders it a disaster scenario if we capture or kill OBL. The Democrats were hoping that the economy stayed bad and that the military suffered losses. That party is in a sad state of affairs. As an independent, I only want the best for this country ant its citizens. To think that an entire political party is rooting for bad scenarios (see WCM's rejoicing over the Iraq pics) to happen in order to get their candidate elected in nothing short of un-American.

That's it in a nutshell man...the worse things get for America the better they are for the demokRATS! That is really why I am starting to hate these scum, some of whom I've voted for in the past.

Could you imagine had GWB put together some form of "catastrophe group" during the 2000 election had (g)whore be credited with catching bin laden or doing something else as grandious as inventing the internet? <_<
