    I'm watching NFL Europe - Rhien Fire vs Scottish Claymores - and the announcer says the Fire's coach has a lot of respect for the Claymores' D-line, esspecially DTs Nick Eason and Alan Harper.

    Then the other announcer chimes in, saying Alan Harper is the impressive one. Jack Bicknell, he adds, says Harper is a man amongst boys and is really tearing up this league.

    Maybe some hope yet this washout will contribute something.

    you cant call a late second day pick a washout after 3 years, there is a reason he was picked late.

    So far he has been a complete washout. That's not even debatable.

    Harper was a forth round draft pick who hasn't even been good enough to get on the field, even on special teams.

    His career stats are: 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0

    BTW - Alan Harper is only signed thru this year, so it's not like the Jets have forever for him to justify the investment that they made in him.

    This Season will be Harpers 3rd year!Rubeun Carter I think everyone
    can agree sucked as a Line Coach!! Some players take longer than
    other's to shine! The Bigger schools generally produce a more NFL
    ready player!! Fresno State College isn't what I would call a Major
    Football factory!! Plus NFL Europe could do wonders for Harper as
    far as his Confidence goes..Quiz!Whose this Jet Player who everyone
    likes that did nothing till year 3?? Here's his stat's from his first 2
    years from his first team..
    Played in 15 games had a total of 8 tackles and no sacks as a DT!

    Hint..Misses Urine tests!! :lol:

    Lets hope Harper has a good year and shows SOME sign he can be a 2005 replacement for either Evans or Furgy (since we are likely to lose one or both).

    He wasn't a late 2nd day pick. He was a 4th rounder, as early in the 2nd day as you can get and he was called "the key to the entire draft" that year by Dan Leberfeld of course. He was picked in the 4th because his combine numbers were awful but he still managed 12.5 sacks from the interior D-line at Fresno. So far he has been inactive for 2 years.... clearly a wash.

    Here's to hoping, since he'd be a real affordable replacement if he could get his act together. At the very least he might be able to work his way into the DT rotation as a backup, since of the guys on the roster now, you might only have D-Rob, Reed, and Harper back in 2005.

    Then again, I can hope a supermodel will knock on my door. Doesn't mean it'll happen. :lol:

    [color=green]Guys...Be serious here.Harper is terrible and has absolutely NO GAME AT ALL!
    To back up this bold statement ,keep in mind the following stats:
    1. Herm chose Baddniss to suit up as many games this year as Harper for the Jets.
    2.Baddniss had as many sacks as Alan Harper did for the Jets over the last 2 seasons.

    In all seriousness, Harper is the prime example of how college stats from a mediocre program can be totally mis-leading to us all. Yes he did have 12.5 sacks his senior year. BUT Fresno State aint Ohio State, and lots of people forget there's a huge difference in the oppositions of those 2 programs.

    After Harper was drafted , there was this idiot named Jensen posting at the NY.Times jet website saying that anyone with 12.5 sacks in his senior year would be our next Hugh Douglass and was a steal in the 4th round. My comment was that he was a stretch & these kind of guys belong in the 7th round. The lesson to be learned here for all of us is that stats from Podunk colleges dont mean squat.

    The other lesson is that Jack Bicknell is an idiot. So far in NFL.Europe this season, Harper has something like 4 tackles in 4 games. Thats pitiful!!! That is HARDLY tearing up the league! Bicknell simply has no idea what he is talking about. Harper has fully proven that he is a wash-out and has no game, and should not make the Jets roster this season.

    As I've said before, if you aint a STAR in NFLe, you aint close to starting in the NFL. [/color]
