If I remember right Coles would have accepted a 10 million dollar signing bonus, very reasonable considering his talent but the Jets only offered 6 million :o . Looking back I think I would rather have kept Coles and drafted Barnett, which is what would have happened.

And just so you know, I live in D.C. and DESPISE the Washington BigotSkins with every pore of my soul, not only for taking Coles, but just because their name is so OBVIOUSLY offensive (Washington Blackskins? Washington YellowFaces? Washington Wetbacks? Nope, didn't think so) and living here is HELLISH for any non-Skins fan.

I dig the irony of the following two statements from the same person.

You would think that a good tape job would help his nagging injury but it's probably worse then it really is.

It's called negotiating. With the exception of Dan Snyder, every owner/GM in the league NEGOTIATES a contract. They don't walk in the door and say well, here's every penny we can afford to give you, what do you say? The jets made Coles an offer and before he countered Snyder offered him the type of money you would expect to see TO, Randy Moss, or Harrison get. The jets did the right thing by not offering a very good WR a contract that should only be given to an ELITE WR.

Name the 5 wideouts that were the top 10 in yardage the last two years?

Harrison, Holt, Moss, Ward and Coles. TO could not even accomplish that feat.

First of all, I'm a football fan, so I care about ALL players, Jets first, SU alums second, players that I despise third, and everyone else fourth.

That said, I LOVED Coles, he was my second favorite next to Chad.

But I now DESPISE Coles, not for taking the money (for which I can not blame him), but for the way he left, as an arrogant thug with a massive but misplaced chip on his shoulder (in my subjective opinion).

And I would NEVER root for a player to get hurt, but at the same time I can revel in others misery when they do get hurt.

Do you think anyone felt bad for us when Chad mashed his hand?

So thanks for the report on Coles, I hope he never plays another effective down and that his contract KILLS the Redskins somehow, someway.

F*ck Coles, glad he's hurt (but didn't root for it to happen).

Alrighty guys lets simmer down now.....2 things we cant hold against Coles : 1 the man has to take care of himself and his family. Most of the players look out for themselves and try to get that big contract while their young so they can be set. So if they get hurt...."the toe"...he's already set for life, so he thinks. And 2. he was a little bitter. He thought he was gonna be a Jet. Yes Herm couldnt guarantee him that kind of money, but he did say as long as he was the coach here, Coles would be signed. You guys are right about the money though. I wouldnt have given him that much. He had steaily productive years as a Jet. He improved with each year, but was not worth a 35million dollar contract and 10 million up front....sorry. But I will say that I love Coles...he was a cool person and a great player for us. We shouldnt be all crazy because he left for the money. I wish there was more loyalty in sports, but face it there isnt much. I know a few of you would have taken that offer too.... :o . Well I digress...Coles was good here, but Im not worried. We have a great corp of receivers and we'll show them all this year...Be good guys... <_<

It's not his fault the Jets didnt want to caugh up the cash, he did what was in the best interest for him--good for him.

Seeing things like "In this case i dunno" makes me think how ridiculous some of you can act.

And why the f##k not gloat and look down on the Jets? He wanted to stay here, it's not his fault they didnt want him as much as the Redskins. Jeez. PATHETIC
NO, not good for him f..k him... I think it's ridiculous that you can appease an ignorant thug like this guy. I love when I hear people say he has to take care of himself and family, like the approximately $10 signing bonus he would have gotten to stay would have left him and his family on a street corner. Give me a break. Yeah it's all about the money and that's fine, that's what he based his decision on and was totally ignorant of the market he left and the QB he would have played 10 years with. He has the right to take the money, I have the right to view him as the ignorant thug he is.

And the reason you don't gloat genius is because
A. It's classless - but that's never stopped him before
B. You got that 100 yards against the Jets secondary
C. His team would go on to win 4 more games all season

I never wish a player to get hurt, I just home Snyder keeps that team in dissaray so while Coles gets paid, his teams continue to suck.

One of 5 receivers to be in the top 10 in receiving yards the past 2 seasons.

McCareins has never had one game with 100 yards.

Just like Conway, McCareins will make all Jet fans forget Coles.

Nice to see some Jet fans agree. ;)
