SHAME OF THE NATION: MORE IRAQ PRISONER ABUSE PHOTOS SURFACE
Thu May 06 2004 00:45:27 ET

President Bush told the Arab world on Wednesday that Americans are appalled by the abuse and deaths of Iraqi prisoners at the hands of U.S. soldiers. Late Wednesday night, new pictures surfaced.

The pictures include shots of soldiers simulating sexually explicit acts with one another and shots of a cow being skinned and gutted and soldiers posing with its severed head. There are also dozens of pictures of a cat's severed head.

Other photographs show wounded men and dead bodies. In one, a dead man is lying in the back of a truck, his shirt, face and left arm covered in blood. His right arm is missing. Another photograph shows a dead body, gray and decomposing. A young soldier is leaning over the corpse, smiling broadly and giving the "thumbs-up" sign.

And in another picture a young woman lifts her shirt, exposing her breasts. She is wearing a white band with numbers on her wrist, but it is unclear if she is a prisoner.

Another photograph of a naked man with a dark hood over his head, handcuffed to a cell door. And another of a naked man handcuffed to a bunk bed, his arms splayed so wide that his back is arched.

A picture shows a soldier holding a leash tied around a naked man's neck in an Iraqi prison.

Impacting...

We're you this upset when they shot our POW's point blank in the head in March of 2003? Or I suppose that was just hearsay as well <_<

of course not; we should let them continue to plot and kill Americans. Of course when they do hypocrites like yourself will be the first to scream why the President wasn't doing more or didn't stop the attack.......

Funny how you completely dodged the question I posed about being outraged when American POW's were shot point blank in the head a year ago.

when was Iraq plotting and planning to kill americans?

7. #7
Well Hanoi John is "deeply" upset by all of this

Why are you so upset Hanoi John, because you told the country you and others commited war crimes in Vietnam. Oh yah my bad you didn't say that your speech writers wrote that for you

Did anyone hear one ARAB leader come out and be "appaled" over Americans being dragged through the streets or Italians having their heads cut off on TV? Anyone?

Mohammed Atta had multiple meetings with iraqi intel in Prague just before 9/11.
Terror training camp at Salman Pak, iraq and other iraqi sites.
Monetary and logistic support directly from saddam for Palestinian terror groups.
Abu Abbas, Abu Nidal (two Palestinian terrorists) caught/killed/died in Iraq.
The seeming ease of AQ to link up with iraqi baathists using homicide bombings.
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (member of AQ) residence in iraq before the war started.
Ramsey Yousef was assisted by iraq by providing him a false identity when he fled the US after WTC 1. (Yousef was arrested in Pakistan on 2/7/95, while staying in a bin Laden "guest house" in Peshawar.)
Reports that 3 iraqi intel officials met in Pakistan with representatives of AQ just after 9/11.
Only 3 nations capable of producing the anthrax of the US mail system fame: the US, Russia and iraq.

No, definately not as much proof as haliburton directing the war.

Mamdouh Mahmud Salim, one of the founders of Al Qaeda, and recently sentenced to 32 years in prison for stabbing a prison guard in the eye, was a Sudanese trained as an engineer in Iraq. Some of his responsibilities included issuing religous decrees for bin Laden, and operating training camps and safe houses.

bman - if the Iraq War has "nothing to do" with terrorism, why is AQ in Iraq trying very hard to make sure that project fails? Why did they bomb Spain and cite the Iraq War as a reason?

You'd think they'e love it for the USA to divert resources away from Afghanistan, no?

If it's all Israel and the US, why are they bombing Jordan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia?

we fought iraq to remove saddam and his socialist party!
we inavded and the borders become open and lawless..now qeada and all sorts of terrorists are flocking to iraq to fight the occupation...they weren't there before.

Why are thy flocking to Iraq to fight the occupation? Why are they killing Iraqi civilians in Iraq? Why are they bombing Spain because of Iraq? Why are they diverting resources to Iraq when they are being fought in Afghanistan? How do you know they weren't in Iraq before the war? Why are they bombing Turkey and Saudi Arabia and trying to bomb Jordan? What is the deal with Ansar Al-Islam - that is affiliated with AQ and is based in Iraq. Why did Saddam harbor and aid the Iraqi AQ member who was involved in the 1993 WTC attack? Why was Al-Zarqawi in Iraq prior to the war? What's the deal with the fuselage in Salman Pak?

Honestly - you seem like a passionate kid. I admire that. But I suspect that if Bill Clinton or John Kerry were President, you wouldn't poo-poo these circumstances as much as you do because you can't stand the guy in the White House presently. I supported Bill Clinton when he attacked Iraq in 1998, based on intel, using rhetoric about WMD that is virtually indistinguishable from Bush's. The war and those attacks were based on the same intel, only, since 1998, there were no UN inspectors in Iraq to check on things. You just aren't objective. EVERYTHING ever done by Bush is wrong, in your eyes. You are just as bad as you accuse shakin, Weeb and Chief of being, you are simply inverted.

Can I think the prisoner deal was bad but still support the effort in Iraq?

I think it's wrong for prominent conservatives to feel some obligation to help minimize the amount of people who go to jail.
.....bad people, no matter who or how many, need to go to jail for this. for a long time.

demonizing liberals for being opposed the abuse means we can't oppose any prison atrocities in vietnam, japan or anywhere else.

Likewise, it's illogical to presume that several dozen idiots in charge of a prison needs to make our nation completely reverse a national policy decision.

George Patton would have those soldiers shot. We need to publicly and painfully apply justice, then we need to demonstrate civility to those prisoners.

....and then we need to continue the campaign.
