From FoxNews.Com....

SALT LAKE CITY Janet Jackson (search) finds herself between a Utah man and media conglomerate Viacom in a lawsuit.

Attorney Eric Stephenson feels the Super Bowl halftime show (search) was falsely advertised, so he's taking the company to small claims court for $5,000.

He's suing the owner of CBS, saying pre-game ads led him to believe he would be seeing marching bands, balloons, and a patriotic celebration. Instead, he says he was exposed to explicit song lyrics, Janet Jackson's bare breast, and what he calls Kid Rock's (search) desecration of the American flag by wearing it as a poncho.

Viacom attorney Jeff Hunt says Stephenson should complain to the FCC rather than go to small claims court. Hunt says the show's content had First Amendment protection and it's a stretch to call it false advertising.

Hunt adds the FCC is already investigating what went wrong on the Feb. 1 telecast.

A judge will decide the case no later than Thursday.

Seriously - he should pay a fine for wasting the court's time and the taxpayer's money with this moronic suit.

I am not exaggerating when I say that few things annoy me as much as frivolous lawsuits!

Let's see how vehemently our liberal friends defend this frivoulous lawsuit. This is what the left has reduced our justice system to -- a lottery.

I wonder if they'll give the spiel about everyone's right to sue or how trial lawyers protect their innocent clients against BIG MEDIA.

Or maybe they'll remain silently hypocritical.

Well Weeb, so many here claim I am a Leftist Liberal, and I was the one who posted the thread so we could mock it.....

This suit is rediculous, but the sacry things is how likely it could be that he could win!

    Terrifying stuff.....

Yeah Liberals fight for "decency" laws. Liberals at the FCC are the ones cracking down on Howard Stern.

I guarantee this guy is a conservative, most likely, a Mormon. (He is from Utah.) If you think for one second that this guy is a liberal then I don't know what to say. I'm sure even conservatives here will concede this guy is most likely a conservative.

You know, he has a point here:

Not too many Liberals (as i know them) would have been offended at "Zee Boob" shot (or the half0time show itself) due to their artistic/free speech/whatever beliefs.

Most of the loudest voices I heard after the event were religious Conservatives who fear "Zee Boob" and everything it represents.

Regardless, WHATEVER this guy is, he is a Yutz and should be thrown out of court IMO.

Wow, you and Fish both completely missed the point. Thet guy surely could have been a Con. He could have been a religious nut for all we know. The point was the liberal agenda has allways been pro-litigation. They consistently shoot down efforts to deter frivilous law suits and settlement caps.

But they are pro litigation, aren't they?

And how many libs want to censor what they don't like: the confederate flag, ethnic jokes, stereotypes, peaceful protests at abortion clinics, smoking (even out doors), kicking kids out of school for drawing pictures of guns, historic cartoons that portray afro-American hired help, voluntary prayer in school, "In God We Trust" off currency, etc.

Let me remind you which side is vehemently against even beauty pagents (as being exploitive of women). I, for one, think there is nothing more beautiful that a womans body.

I appologized to you for accusing you of being a liberal, but in reading many of your posts, you're very quick to jump to the defense of those taking a left of center slant and attack those leaning right. A moderate sees both sides of an issue, correct?

The whole contry is pro-litigation. You can't blame liberals more than you can blame conservatives. There are instances on both sides and this example proves that point. So to me you look foolish trying to blame this sort of litigation on Liberals, when the guy filing this particular suite is most likely conservative.

In my experience I have found BOTH parties to be Pro-Litigation when it comes to their own interests. As I see it, each Party simply wants to reduce the types of litigation the other party favors, while opening up more opportunity for their own favored litigation.

You comments regarding Leftist Banning of certain items is true, as it is. However, to imply the Right does not exibit the same tactics is almost laughable. Both parties pick and choose the things they want banned from public consumption, based not on theories of freedom of person, but on political advantage and economic constituent gain. Why would a Republican, who in many places are backed by Big Tobacco, be for a Smoking ban? Of course they wouldn't. But they WOULD be for a ban on Playboy Magazine, a group that does not support the Right. Same goes for personal recreational drug use. The Right likes Liquer and Tobacco, because both back them. Why let in Pot when the Large Liquor, beer and Tobacco companies line their Compaign Chests?

I suppose I defend the Left because the Right is obviously the vocal Angry majority here on the forum, and the Rights ideas are more thoroughly expressed here. Most of the Leftists are either silent most of the time (Like Bob TJF) or are simply ignorant (like Bmann). Don't take that the wrong way, I think the Right is just as insane and radical and extremist in their beliefs and actions as the Left.

The problem (one of them) as I see it with both the Left and Right is that their minds are closed tighter than a (fill in the Joke here). Closed Minds are dangerous Minds IMO. Both parties simply belive, without thought or intellectual debate or exploration, the "Core Beliefs" and "Talking Points" the leaders of the side proclaim as Doctrine.

So I play devil's advocate. My beliefs (issue by issue) have been posted elsewhere on this forum, and I would say that about 80% of my beliefs and positions on issues lean (or fall squarely into) the Right side. But I belive in free thought and questioning the Authority to be sure whatever we do is the right thing.

When I saw this lawsuit, I have to admit I laughed. Unfortunately I had a mouthful of coke at the time, which is now all over my monitor and keyboard. Maybe I should sue him for clean up costs?

I hope they haul Janet Jackson into court and make her rest her bare meat can on the podium as Exhibit A. Then have the jury file by one by one to take a closer look at it.

"If you don't see tit, you must acquit."

Taking a position just because one side has a majority or minority is quite frankly, ridiculous.

You've scoffed at media bias, but if you look at the source of news that the MAJORITY of the public digests -- it's left leaning liberal propaganda and that's why talk radio exists and is popular. One difference, Dan Rather claims no bias, Sean Hannity doesn't. One's supposed news, the other opinion and debate.

Feminists would ban Playboy as quick as the Moral Majority would. That's censorship on both sides, but it seems to offend you more from the right. That's not centrist -- regardless of what you say.

Did you ever think that liberals want to ban smoking, not because of health issues, but precisely because Big Tobacco supports their opponents? Lets keep people sick, so we get our cut of the taxes. If you really had an open mind, you'd see that Big Tobacco supports democratic socialism much more than it does to keep the GOP in power. Democratic socialism keeps the masses sucking at the teat of big government which sustains their power.

You claim an open mind, but you seem pretty set in your beliefs as well.

We can all agree that this is a frivolous suit. Smells of a money grab.

UGH, another instance where another attorney makes all attys look bad.

*Sigh* Whatever Weeb. I am tired of having to "validate" my beliefs in your (and others) Rightwing eyes. If you think I am a Insane Lefty Liberal, fine, good for you. If you think I am the enemy or close minded, fine, good for you.

I do not care what you think of me, my opinions, or my positions on issues. If you don't like my posts or positions, either skip them or criticise them, I could care less. I am more than secure in my beliefs, and my open minded-ness.

While on the topic of ridiculous lawsuits, I'm being sued at work for performing my duties as a police officer 2 years ago. You want to talk ridiculous laswuits, I can tell you about the common ones filed against most police officers.
