my current GF's old college roommate is in the near future marrying a member of the band GWAR

the guy's name in the band is Balsac the Jaws of Death

this is a two part question:

    1) what was Gwar all about? the costumes obviously but what else? I was a metalhead (Metallica, Megadeth, Sabbath, etc) but these guys always flew under my radar...

    2) how screwed up is this reception gonna be?

dickkotite im looking in your direction for guidance especially  ;)

    wow

ok gwar is a crazy band that lives together on a compound in virginia or somewhere. some of them were prof. stunt/makeup people in hollywood.
in a nutshell they have a stage show second only to kiss, or maybe better. they play silly metal songs with barbarian themes and come out in outrageous costumes. they come on stage as if they were 9 feet tall. all throughout the show, their is carnage and gluttony. they have an army of extras who have crazy costumes. they have a 10 foot penis that shoots sperm into the audience ...they have beheadings...if your in the first few rows your going to have fake guts and blood and sperm shot all over you.

thats about it. im not a huge fan so i could be off here and there but thats it in a nutshell. i do like their live videos

The Legend of GWAR began millions of years ago when the aliens rampaged across the galaxy with a gang of space pirates called the Scumdogs of the Universe. Falling out of favor with their Master, GWAR was imprisoned on the most remote mudball planet in the galaxy...Earth. After killing off the dinosaurs and inadvertently creating the human species by raping prehistoric apes, GWAR began to significantly influence the development of the planet, until that wild gig in Atlantis, when it was decided that GWAR should be entombed in Antarctica. Thus, preventing them from screwing up Earth any further.

Several thousand years later GWAR were stumbled upon and awakened by, Sleazy P. Martini, a known pimp, pusher, pornographer, and record executive for Capitalist Records, accidentally stumbled into GWAR's Antarctic tomb and woke them. He took them to New York, gave them electric guitars, and began to market them as his latest Rock-n-Roll sensation. Some of GWAR's adventures are chronicled in their albums, comics, and videos, but there are still plenty of GWAR stories waiting to be told.

Whats scary is that GWAR is running a training camp to train new GWAR members, so when they die, the GWAR legacy lives on

Gwar was beavis and Butthead's favorite band.

That should tell you all you need to know. Theatrics and style over substance

DOS- i have a vague background on Slipknot.

From what I have heard of their music, they certainly appear to have more talent than what Gwar offered, and have a few riffs that can be termed catchy. That is about as much as I can offer on Slipknot, which is not much. The videos are certainly edgy.

That is not my genre anymore. The hardest that I really go is Static X these days. My metal tends to be more toward the Datsuns.

Check out the new Slipknot...if you like Static X, I think you will like them. I did not like the newest Static album myself.

GWAR is a great band (artistically and performance wise) who are known for their over the top live performances and on stage personas. In person (I've met them numerous times and have shared the stage with them on several occasions) they are bright, intelligent and very creative group of artists.

She's done well for herself, why would there be any concern?
