 Becht is by no means as terrible as many of these fans make him out to be....ok he was a 1st round draft pick and has not lived up to the billing but daaaaaam the man is not the worst.....his blocking is good but he needs to do better in the passing department...funny thing is that I was just looking at his stats and he's improving each year regarding receptions. I think Baker is better and Ricks will see alot of action but to make it like Becht is the worst TE in the NFL is nutso.

Of the 8 TEs chosen in the first round since 1997, 4 are multi-time Pro Bowlers (Shockey-2, Franks-3, Heap-2, Gonzo-5), and a 5th, Dallas Clark, had potential to become one as a rookie if he hadn't gotten hurt. Though Becht's blocking skills are underrated and above average, 1st round TEs are expected to impact the passing game like the players listed above. After going 4 seasons without ever averaging more than 9 YPC and showing hands that are inconsistent at best, it's safe to say that fans' patience is at an end.

    Amen Flow.

Becht is not putting up 1st round draft pick #'s period and he's got 3 seasons under his belt already. He could definitely get some instruction from Jerald Sowell on Y.A.C., Yards after the catch - a term that's not in Bechts dictionary not to mention that Bechts hands are suspect at best. Is our losing season Bechts responsibility no, but I would be willing to bet that Becht is second only behind Curtis Conway on the dropped passes list from last season.

It's funny how some of you bash Becht. Too bad he is a very good tight end and the moron we have for a head coach and offensive coordinator don't know what to do with him. Yeah he is human he drops a ball here and there and jumps off sides here and there just like everyone else on the team. Also, I forgot which one of you said that we should expect more from Becht because Shockey is an impact player the Giants drafted in the first round two years ago. Too bad Shockey has not made a substantial impact the past two years as his team sucks and he sucks as a blocker and was scared ****less last year after talking so much s**t that teams put their hats on him and he didn't do squat until he got injured.

The bottom line is that there are good players that excell in some offenses because their coaches make the effort to design plays to capitalize on that players strengths. Hackett and Edwards have made a habit of playing to the system they want to play and not to the strength of the players on this team.

That is why our record sucked last year

Becht is an average TE at best with suspect hands and no ability to get yards after the catch. I'd start Baker over him in a heartbeat. Too say Becht is a "very good" tight end is an overstatement. Ricks will be a welcome improvement at that position. Though are coaching last season was not the best that does not justify or excuse Becht's sub 1st round pick performance the last 3 seasons.
