Thread: Ricks' contract

  1. #1
No word on a signing bonus, but looks like Ricks was signed to a one-year 535,000 contract, which means that the Jets will most certainly get the vet-minimum discount for him on the salary cap.

If the bonus is reasonable, this is very good news. A low cost UFA that could give us a new dimension.

I'll post more info as I get it.

Ricks' comp is listed at $535,000.

You can search for most any player.

Hey, lemme ask your opinions on this.

Do you think that the reason we got him for cheap is because we were sort of already "set" at the position and not really incredibly "needy" and "desperate"? That might have helped the contract talks because he wouldn't have so much leverage. What do you guys think?

I think he and his agent realized that a one year deal was good for them too. Where can the kid earn more money than working with Pennington? The guy has experience in the offense.

Green Bay has other accomplished TE's. Washington has Winslow.

We give him a chance for a nice 2005 payday. He could catch 50 balls with us and score 6 td's.

    Good job by both sides.

Of course we still don't know what the bonus was, if any. The good news on that is that whatever it is, they fit it all in this year, since there is no next year.

When talk first started about this possible pick up I was not infavor of it. At this price tag its a great addition. Nomajor hit to our cap and verry possibly an upgrade at TE. I kown some will say its a deffinet upgrade I just want to see him play in our system, before we call him a perenial All-Pro. On paper good work by Bradway.

    Oh sh!t, my bad.

I'm still so amazed that he took Taylor, that I forget.

Even after that classic Bang Ha Ha ...
