The Red Sox were awesome today

The Angels were the hottest team in baseball going into the post season ... they were scary ... yet the Sox went into their building and pounded the piss out of them

No two ways about it, the Red Sox were flatout awesome today

As for the Yankees, Mussina pitched great as did Gordon and Mariano, but this lineup spit the bit

I don't wanna hear about Santana ... HE WAS NOT ON HIS GAME TONITE

Santana was just beggin to be beat tonite ... BEGGIN ... surrendered 9 hits a few walks and a slew of hard hit balls ... BEGGIN TO GET WHUPPED ... but this lineup flatout LET HIM OFF THE HOOK all nite

How many men did the Yankees leave on base ... 15?

How many times did the Yankees get the leadoff hitter on base ... 5?

How many men did the Yankees strand in scoring position ... 10?

    And 5 Double Plays?!?! Angry

IT IS AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE THAT ALL OF THESE HIGH-PRICED THUMPERS COULD SPIT THE BIT LIKE THIS ... TIME AND TIME AGAIN ... ALL NITE ... ALMOST EVERY SINGLE INNING!!!!!

Just a disgraceful performance ... for all the money we have invested in this lineup, NOT ONE F**KIN HIT with runners in scoring position ... NOT ONE ... and they had a million opportunities!!!!!!!&# 33;!!!!!!!

Now that doesn't mean the Yankees will not bounce back and win the series ... maybe they will and maybe they won't ... BUT TONITE the offense flatout spit the bit

THAT WAS A GAME THE YANKEES HAD TO WORK HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD TO LOSE

You had to WORK at losing that game, cause that game was there to be won almost every inning

    9 hits and however many walks .... WITH ZERO RUNS!!!!!!!!!& #33;!!!!!!!!!& #33;!!!!!!!

From a lineup that is being paid upwards of 100 million dollars

This is the reason we went out and stacked this lineup with thumpers in the first place ... to avoid another putrid offensive output like we saw in the 2003 WS ... yet tonite was every bit as putrid, AND WORSE!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! !

AND NO .... IT WAS NOT BECAUSE OF JOHAN SANTANA ... NOT TONITE ... TONITE SANTANA WAS BEGGIN TO BE BEAT

Have to agree with you GJ&H. As an impartial observer, I kept saying to myself that the Yankees were going to break through eventually. If not off Santana, it had to be against that suspect bullpen. That Rincon was throwing MEATBALLS up there, one which Pay-Rod nearly took out of the park. For once, karma was not in the Yankees' favor tonight.

This is nothing new for the Yankees. They seem to always lose the first game of a series. (Now 8 out of the last 10).

The only problem now is that it Jon Lieber and not Andy Pettitte looking to bail the Yanks out of serious trouble.

The Twins did what you need to do to win in the post season. Pitch and play great defense and get the timely hit.

The lineup was fine. They got their hits. Problem was that they would hit into the 6-4-3 right after it.

Gonna be real interesting to see how a guy who has never pitched in the post season (Lieber) responds to the heat.
