    The Yankees could have kept Pettite. But it wouldn't have mattered much. He has been on the DL all year.

    They could have kept Wells. But it wouldn't have mattered much. After all he was too hurt to pitch in that big game against Florida last year.

    Actually, none of these guys would be here now, even if teh Yanks wanted them. Wells had a chance, but he didn't want to come back. The offer was on the table.

    Most of the others retired (O'Neill, Brosis, Justice), or were cut and couldn't hook an anywhere (Cone and Knoblaugh).

    If I remember correctly, he was in pain before that 1st DL appearance in April.

    My point is...these guys were true Yankees. They were winners.

    They werent a team of ALL-STARS, they represented team ball.


    Remember when the yanks were a small ball team&#33;?
