Summary:
Raymond D. Wigley and Blackwelder were both inmates at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Florida. Wigley was serving a life sentence for First Degree Murder. Blackwelder was serving a life sentence following a 1998 conviction for Child Molesting of a 10 year old. He had been convicted in 1975 and served time for Sexual Battery. Wigley went to Blackwelder's cell and asked for sex. Prior to the proposition, Blackwelder had hidden several pieces of cord around his bunk so he could restrain Wigley when the opportunity arose. Blackwelder consented to the proposition for sex and tied up Wigley after he had disrobed. Wigley allowed Blackwelder to bind his hands and feet to the bed and to tie a towel around his mouth. Blackwelder positioned himself on top of Wigley's back and strangled him with a piece of the cord that he had hidden near his bunk. Prior to his death, Wigley was strangled for nearly ten minutes while pleading for his life. Blackwelder then alerted prison authorities about the murder. Blackwelder pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, a jury unanimously recommended the death penalty, and the Judge sentence him in accordance with that verdict. Blackwelder was also convicted in 1991 on federal charges of threatening then Vice President Dan Quayle. He had called the Secret Service, Miami television stations and the TV series "America's Most Wanted," saying he would "eliminate" Quayle and "put him on slab" unless he received $10 million.

    Final Words:
"I'm glad I get to go home. I'm proud to be a Christian, and I thank Jesus for saving me and allowing me to go home. Amen."

    God bless you, gerbles.

America is just loaded with us right-wing, religious nuts.

Just have to deal with it, I guess.

Thanks Queef. Hey, when you get to heaven, say hi to this guy for me.

The jury found Ramon Salcido guilty of six counts of 1st degree murder, one count of second degree murder, and 2 counts of premeditated attempted murder. The jury also decided there were special circumstances that could trigger the death penalty. Attorneys for Salcido hoped to convince the jury their client was crazed by alcohol and other drugs when he went on a murderous rampage in Sonoma County in April of '89. Salcido had been charged with killing his wife, two of his three daughters, his mother in-law, and her other two daughters, and a fellow worker in Sonoma County Winery. Salcido's daughter Carmina then two years old was found with her two dead sisters at a rural dump, she had survived a slashed throat. Prosecutors argue that Salcido premeditated the murders out of jealousy and revenge. Salcido was arrested at his mothers home in Mexico and later talked about the killings. Prosecutor Peter Brummits was pleased with the juries decision.

"After the police flew me back from Mexico to jail in Santa Rosa, a crowd gathered at the jail shouting "Kill him! Kill him!" It was a terrible tragedy and the whole world was shocked. I felt that all I wanted to do was die as I had lost all that I had ever loved. Then a man put a Bible in my cell. I read it and accepted Christ as my Saviour. Then my heart was flooded with warm waves of forgiveness and true joy. I felt my prayers were heard and answered. I realized that repentance and forgiveness are the only way to come to God's kingdom. The Lord has rescued me from so much pain."

Gobbles, you're belittling Christianity because heinous criminals discover it after they're locked up. What sort of indictment is this? Our only business is to put these criminals away. What they preach and practice isn't for us to judge (well, you maybe, because in a way, you're playing God with posts like these), they'll answer to a higher power later. Or maybe not. Who knows? We certainly don't.

Reminds me of simple message someone once told me: "I know two things: one, there is a God. Two, I'm not Him." Internalizing that provides great perspective.

Actually, if you believe it, those who sin and are truly sorry no matter how heinous their crimes are still eligible to be redeemed in the afterlife. But according to the Democratic Socialists, that's only OK for people like Mumia, the Brinks terrorists, Patty Hearst, etc - never anyone that professes to be a born-again Christian or a Republican. That is not to say that the states of Texas, etc etc will not punish those guilty of capital crimes, as they should.

    I'm already in heaven.

It's called the United States of America governed by George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, a Republican congress and a soon to be conservative majority in the Supreme Court.

    Enjoy the next four years.

Was it Marx that called religion the Opiate of the Masses?

Well, I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I'd say Christianity generally makes people "go along" and endure hardship. "Turning the other cheek" is a Christian principle...although not practiced as much as it should be. Christians should in principle be pretty mellow and accomodating folk.

I think Christianity is more close to an Opiate of the masses than other religions. Scientology is probably the "Pot of the Masses", Hinduism is probably the "LSD of the masses", and Islam is probably the "Angel Dust" of the masses.

    Just my inflammatory opinion though.

This thread is both sad and funny!

Sad, cause of the lost tormented souls that obviously are crying out for help or they wouldn't be so mad at the peace and happiness the Lord has provided those who have accepted him.

Funny, cause no real christian can even get offended at these silly attacks at christianity.I didn't even realy no how to respond cause I was to busy laughing at first, then saddend at the fact that my fellow man is lost.

By the way, christianity is not a religion!

Religion: is a group that seperates themselves from others and only allows those to be part of that group "religion" only on the fact if you follow there bilaws that may not be biblical and worship only there way .

    Christianity:
Is a way of life.Everyone can have there own personal relationship with God.The doors are always open to all no matter how old, young, color, rich or poor God is for all who accept him.

Also, please remember one thing. The Lord sent Jesus to be the example of how one should live, Not those of whom you posted and murdered. If your looking to other humans who live in sin as your example then I feel sad for you.You should only look to the one who saved you and me "jesus" no one else.

    God Bless
