I saw on ESPN news a little while ago a clip of Hines Ward. Jerome Bettis addressed the team this morning at a team meeting, and told the team that he wasn't sure if he would be back with the team next season. So they talk to a couple of players later on in the day, and they all say the usual PC crap. But for some reason, Hines Ward starts talking about Bettis possibly not being around next season, AND HE STARTS CRYING!!! I was sitting there stunned. My roommate walked in the door, sees my face, looks at the screen and sees Ward crying, and says" Holy SH#T, who died?" When I told him what was going on he laughed his ass off.

Can anyone explain this to me? I'm baffled....and very amused!

There was a lot of wimpy stuff going on in the NFL yesterday. While I admire these guys for playing the toughest sport.............The crying's gotta go! Half the Eagles players were balling yesterday including Brian Dawkins during an interview. Ask Jim Kelly if just reaching the Super Bowl is something to be so proud of. This attitude of feeling accomplishment for just getting there is going to lead to a Patriots cake-walk. Get used to it- 3 out of 4 for the Patsies.

Got that right-The Eagles sure have that "We are just happy to be there" syndrome going on-Everybody but MCNabb

On the local Sports Talk radio, they are just about forbidding anyone from talking about the SB match-up-they want a couple of days to bask in teh victory.

That being said-I wish it were us

You have to of played a sport to understand the emotions involved. Maybe one day your son will play a sport and he can tell you what it is like.

what the hell does that mean? Whenever someone leaves to go to another team, the rest of the guys have to cry?

please, Mr. Athlete, tell me about the emotions involved!

Ward went on and on in that interview about how much Bettis has taught him about the game since coming to the Steelers. More than any other player. He just sees him as a mentor I guess and doesn't want to see him go.

He wanted to get to the championship game for his friend and mentor the Bus.

I would LOVE to have a player who cries over losing a chance to go to a SB... the day after they were eliminated no less, not some on the field rush of emotion...

I'd take a team full of guys like that. Any day of the week.

I'm with you. It's better than having the franchise laughing his ass off 30 seconds after the most crushing defeat in Jets history (thanks mostly to him).

No, it's only okay for fans to cry over a lost game. A player who has a billion times more wrapped up in the game is not allowed to show emotion. Comprende?
