Everytime Churchill proceeded to engage in an explanation of what he wrote Paula Zahn tried redirect the discussion towards the outrage of the "911 families". Churchill kept his cool and refused to bite. By the end of the interview a clearly exasperated Paula Zahn was ranting hysterically like a loon.

It makes for quite an entertaining piece. Churchill clearly exposed CNN as the cornerstone of the Liberal Media Establishment.

How do you figure that interview exposed CNN as a liberal cornerstone of the media? Honest question.

As far as her raving like a loon, I 've had a couple of girlfriends that would leave her in the dust.

That point was posed rhetorically. The "Liberal Media" charge is used so flippantly that it is totally devoid of content. The interview was clearly an attempt to bait Churchill into making a punctuated statement that would appear to be extreme and callous to the viewer. Zahn probably had worked day and night for a follow up to such a statement. Churchill knew full well of this tactic and remained focused on explaining what he wrote. And almost everytime he attempted to go into detail Zahn rudely cut him off and reinitiated a different tact to provoke such a response. Chomsky accurately points out in Manufacturing Consent that broadcast news reporting is based upon the element of "concission". The word concise means, brief but comprehensive. That principle lends itself very nicely to validating common preceptions be they right or wrong. It also works in a converse way to discredit statements that need detailed explanations for justification. Churchill knew when he accepted the invitation for the interview he would have one hand tied behind his back and did an excellent job dealing with a stacked deck.

Well what can I say to that ? The fact remains Zahn failed miserably in her attempt to bait Churchill. By the end of the interview it was Churchill that appeared calm, reasoned and deliberative while Zahn was ranting. Which is exactly the opposite of what CNN was hoping to achieve.
