    Thomas has been a disaster.

It's time for him to go and give the draft picks to the next guy.

The problem with this trade isn't only that it puts the Knicks even more over the cap. It's also that they now have another two mediocre players with big contracts who will now have to remain on the team the next couple years - players with contracts like that won't be released, and can only be traded to the Knicks, no one else is taking contracts like that without giving the same thing up.

So for the talk of getting draft picks, helping the Knicks rebuild, it's going to be hard to rebuild when you have all these players who can't be released, taking up roster spots the next couple years.

    Wrong.

Mark Madsen, Nazr, the backup point on the Spurs, Tinsley, among others, were #29 picks the past few years. Also, Ariza and Boozer, as well as a slew of others, were 2nd rounders who made it.

Any pick is worth having. You never know.

Besides, how many lottery guys never made it?

Other late draft picks include Josh Howard and Tony Parker. Both relatively recently.

Late 1st don't mean much... the NBA might install an age limit in the future which would REALLY thin out the draft for a few years plus the contracts are guaranteed.
But it would mean that all the underage kids come out this year, which means a late 1st rounder could be worth a lot more then usual.

To bad you did. There are quite a few guys who are solid players taken after #29 in the draft.

But you get the point. The whole draft is a crapshoot. Talent in college does not always translate to the same in the pros. It seems to work fairly well in the NFL, but the NBA is vastly different.

So, any pick is worth it.
