So anyway, the little lady gave me this number pyramid to solve (she didn't say why, we're both out of college as of December). I am to deduce the next three lines. Now I'm no math slouch (I'm a Chemist for crying out loud) and I usually own these things, but so far this thing's just been stumping me for quite some time now. Anyone willing/able to take this burden off my shoulders? (*'s added to maintain proper columns and spacing)

    ******2***1
    ****1*2***1*1
    **1*1*1***2*2*1
    **3*1*2***2*1*1
    1*3*1*1***2*2*2*1

The objective is to figure out the pattern these number are following in and write the next lines in the pyramid.

I haven't put more than 5 minutes into it, so take it for what its worth. I think the next line in pyramid should total 18. But the sequence for the singular numbers on each side isn't jumping out at me.

OK, I get it now. This is a tough one.

    LINE: 3 1 2 2 1 1

read as: one 3, one 1, two 2s, two 1s -- each line describes the numbers in the previous line

    NEXT LINE: 1 3 1 1 2 2 2 1

    AFTER THAT: 1 1 1 3 2 1 3 2 1 1
