    I Don't Care Essay

<<I pretty much agree with the sentiment; heard about this on a radio show this weekend>>

    I Don't Care

    by Doug Patton

Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001? Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania? Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated" when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet? Well, I don't. I don't care at all.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia.

I'll care when Abu Musab al-Zarqawi tells the world he is sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling, slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.

I'll care when Clinton-appointed judges stop ordering my government to release photos of the abuses at Abu Ghraib, which are sure to set off the Islamic extremists just as Newsweek's lies did a few weeks ago.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college hazing incident, rest assured that I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank that I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts that I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran" and other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and -- you guessed it -- I don't care!

You left out some other things that you dont care about:

    - I dont care that 1800+ Americans died in order to set up a govt in Iraq that appears will limit the freedoms of many Iraqi
    - I dont care that they died to set up an Islamic based regime
    - I dont care that the puppet Karzai that we put in power is really just the mayor of Kabul while the rest of the country is still run by warlords
    - I dont care that the Taliban has taken a 3 year holiday in Pakistan and is now back in southern Afghanistan, re-grouped, rested, and infiltrating much of that population
    - I dont care that much of Afghanistans economy is based on Heroin sale.
    - I dont care that the profits from the sale of Heroin is funding the re-arming of the Taliban
    - I dont care that the masterminds of 9/11 are still alive and well making movies 4 years after our President said he wanted them dead or alive
    - I dont care that the premise of invading Iraq that was presented to us before the invasion was all false and that the President had the audacity to make fun of not finding WMDs with that little skit of his
    - I dont care that we have a President who is dissociated from reality
    - I dont care that despite our Presidents aggressive approach on terror, the number of attacks against Western Countries has increased
    - I dont care that despite Iraq NOT being a central front on the war on terror has become one now.
    - I dont care that our actions have fueled the propaganda machine of terrorists , creating new generations of terrorists to come
    - I dont care that despite our actions, we are no safer today than we were before 9/11

I THINK ITS TIME YOU START CARING

this thread is a non-issue - of course a supporter of the war doesn't care about the health of our country. If they did actually care, then they would think these things through. Just accepting what people tell you - that's the defintion of not caring.

It's democrats like you why I'm no longer a democrat. You would rather have the country look bad to acquire power. You are well within you rights to spout your hate America, radical left agenda. But, it does turn quite a few people off that are or use to be democrats.

im not attacking the messenger, not necessarily even disagreeing with all of it. ****, as long as we are there getting americans killed, we may as well inflict some pain on the terrorists. i think thats a good idea. does it outweigh the option of us just simply not being there and not losing american lives to set up democracy that wont work? i dont happen to think so, but, sure, as long as were there, may as well kick some terrorist ***, and if we take out a few innocent civilians as well, whats the big deal

Im not a democrat, I'm an independent. Democrats voted for the war in great numbers.

I would rather this country be successful than not be successful. You may not care about Cindy Sheehan but you should care about whether Iraq will survive as a stable democracy. After all that is what we are fighting for, right?

if Iraq becomes a theocratic Islamist state like Iran then our troops died for nothing.

Sadly, I have to agree with this. I don't see how anyone can honestly see this possibillity otherwise. To be a victory, Iraq had to come out of this War as a stable, pro-Western, non-theocratic Democracy willing and able to stamp out Terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism when and wherever found within it's borders.

Anything less is.....well, Less. A failure to acheive the goals we needed to reach.

Agreed - but until the bad news hits, I choose to be optimistic for reasons I have enumerated elsewhere many times. :)

Optimism = good thing. No debate there. :D

No one every cares until it effects them personally. I think it is ridiculous that people feel it is ok if the U.S. sh*ts all over everyone in the name of doing good.

The point being you can't claim that everyone else is up to no good and then you do the same.

If you wait until the bad news hits, it will be to late! You can chose to be optimistic, but the writing is on the wall and it does not look good. Why wait till it is too late to speak up!
