The Jets announced that CB Donnie Abraham has a fractured right shoulder and will be out of the lineup for at least eight weeks.

The Jets announced that CB Donnie Abraham has a fractured right shoulder and will be out of the lineup for at least eight weeks.

Not good news for a team struggling to get back on track. There was speculation yesterday that Abraham might only have a separation of his shoulder and might be able to return in a month, but after a MRI and CAT Scan on Sunday, the fracture was revealed.

Abraham will undergo surgery to repair the fracture on Thursday by Jets' Associate Orthopedist Dr. Kenneth Montgomery. Montgomery is the same surgeon that repaired Chad Penningtonís injured wrist last month.

While Abe is out, he will be replaced by veteran CB Ray Mickens. Mickens, an eight year veteran with Gang Green has the reputation of being an excellent nickel back but not a great pure cover cornerback. His size (5í8Ē) sometimes works against him when covering taller WRís. If Mickens starts to struggle in the role, look for third year CB Jamie Henderson to get big doses of playing time at the position. The taller Henderson is a talented fierce hitter and may finally get the opportunity to really show his stuff.

The Jets may also look around to sign another CB while Abraham is out.

If Abrahamís rehab goes as scheduled, he may be back for the Indianapolis game on November 16.

For those fans that were hoping the Jets would bring back FA S Victor Green, itís not happening this year. Green, the longtime Jet who played for the Patriots last season, signed today with the New Orleans Saints. He reportedly signed a veteran minimum deal and joins his former Pats teammate and fellow safety, Tebucky Jones who was traded from the Patriots to the Saints last spring.
