More changes on the front, Conway benched. After an 0-4 start, Coach Edwards told the media earlier this week that there would be changes coming and today he announced the biggest one to date by benching WR Curtis Conway.

“I think the only change, really, drastic change, is Santana (Moss) is the starting Z receiver and Wayne (Chrebet) is the X.” said Edwards during his daily press conference today. “Other than that, status quo. Everyone is still the same but we are going to have a rotation system on offense and defense at certain positions and that's how we are going to attack it.”

Translation: Santana Moss finally gets his shot as the starter and veteran Curtis Conway, who was brought in as a replacement for Laveranues Coles will be riding the pine. With the way Conway has played during his first four games as a Jet, this news comes as no surprise to anyone. Conway for the most part has had hands of stone and has missed or dropped several key balls thrown to him that may have changed the outcome of at least one or two games this season. This is a good opportunity to see if Moss has what it takes to be a starter in the NFL and also make sure he’s not another version of Desmond Howard (great punt returner, bad receiver). Conway will still see playing time but mostly when the Jets offense spreads to at least three receivers.

In an effort to get better production from the running game and TE position you will also likely see a bigger dose of RB LaMont Jordan and TE Chris Baker. Although neither will start, the Coach announced that he wants to see more of the two youngsters and how they can impact the game. Look for G Jonathan Goodwin to also get some more reps to see if he can help the running game.
