Jets WR Wayne Chrebet was evaluated by team physician Elliot Pellman and it was determined that he suffered a concussion against the Giants. Coach Edwards announced that Chrebet will miss the Raiders game this Sunday and is week to week.

Edwards told the media that he didn’t think Chrebet’s problem was a chronic one and that all scans of his brain came back negative.

"He's (Chrebet) a week to week situation as far as Dr. Pellman is concerned." Said Edwards today. "Obviously his scans yesterday were negative but we just want to be on the cautious side."

Chrebet joins the growing list of Jets starters out this weekend. CB Donnie Abraham, S John McGraw and DE John Abraham are also shelved for the Raiders. WR Curtis Conway will continue to start in Chrebet’s place alongside Santana Moss. Look for more play from Jonathan Carter and Kevin Swayne as well.

DT Josh Evans had his first practice today since being reinstated Monday after serving a nine game drug suspension. To say he’s happy to be back is an understatement. The press was waiting at his locker to interview him today and upon entering the locker room he hugged various reporters while exclaiming “It’s great to be back!”

“It’s been difficult. Very difficult.” Said Evans when asked about his suspension. “It feels great just to get another opportunity with this organization and I plan to make the most of it.”

Edwards told the media that Evans will be evaluated this week and his exact return date has not yet been determined. There’s a slight possibility he may play on Sunday. Visually, Evans seemed to be in decent shape. According to the Coach he’s just 2 pounds heavier than his playing weight last season of 278. However, getting back to game shape is a different story.

With both first and second string QB’s injured and Rick Mirer slated to start this Sunday, the Raiders signed journeyman veteran QB Rob Johnson on Tuesday. Johnson was a backup on the Redskins earlier this season before being released after game two. He has also been with Jacksonville, Buffalo and Tampa during his 11 year career.
