The Godfather has finally arrived in NY. And when we say “Godfather” you know we’re not talking about Don Corelone. We’re talking about five-time All-Pro Safety John Lynch who is the Godfather of Herm Edward’s son and hopefully will soon be a NY Jet.

The Godfather has finally arrived in NY. And when we say “Godfather” you know we’re not talking about Don Corelone. We’re talking about five-time All-Pro Safety John Lynch who is the Godfather of Herm Edward’s son and hopefully will soon be a NY Jet.

Edwards reportedly cut short a California vacation to greet Lynch, who arrived in Hempstead last night and is wrapping up a cross-country free agent tour that included stops in Seattle, Denver and New England. Although reports say that Lynch has a visit to his former coach Tony Dungy in Indianapolis on his itinerary, the Jets front office will try their best to make NY his last stop.

The Jets are believed to be the frontrunners to sign Lynch, mostly due to the strong relationship that he and Edwards have from their days together in Tampa. Lynch reportedly had dinner with Edwards last night and today will tour the Hofstra complex as well as get a routine physical from Jets physicians. If everything goes well, an offer will follow. Hopefully it will be an offer he can’t refuse and the Jets will have a formidable replacement for the recently released Sam Garnes and a new team leader on defense.
