April 8th, 2004
Jets CB Jamie Henderson is still listed in critical but stable condition in an Atlanta hospital but in recent days has improved after sustaining extensive head trauma caused by a motorcycle accident last weekend. Jets CB Jamie Henderson is still listed in critical but stable condition in an Atlanta hospital but in recent days has improved after sustaining extensive head trauma caused by a motorcycle accident last weekend.

Latest reports say Hendersonís brain had severe swelling from the crash but as of yesterday the swelling decreased significantly. He is able to move all of his extremities but is still in a lot of pain. Although his injuries are not life threatening and he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, Henderson may have sustained brain damage and his NFL career is in tremendous jeopardy.

The accident occurred last Saturday evening in Hendersonís hometown of Carrollton GA when he could not negotiate a turn. Carrollton is aprox. 40 miles west of Atlanta. As of now, alcohol or foul play (such as racing) has not been named as factors contributing to the accident. However, the local police are still reportedly investigating.

Henderson will likely remain in the hospital and be closely watched for several more days or maybe even weeks while he is recovering. He has been visited by several teammates over the last few days and Jets' owner Woody Johnson has been keeping in close contact with the CBís family.
