Round 7 (Pick# 236): RASHAD WASHINGTON, SS Kansas State The Jets rounded out their final three picks In the 7th round by drafting Nebraska DE Trevor Johnson, Ottawa RB Derrick Ward and Kansas State SS Rashad Washington.

Johnson (6-4, 260LBS), is categorized as a tough player with speed who need to bulk up to compete with NFL caliper offensive linemen.

Ward (5-11, 233LBS) rushed 460 times for 3,152 yards (6.9 avg) and 39 touchdowns during his college career which was split between Ottawa and Fresno State. He also and caught seven passes for 96 yards (13.7 avg). On the downside, Ward has had problems maintaining his ideal 225 playing weight and struggled academically in college being ruled ineligible in 2001 and 2002 due to academics.

Washington (6-1, 217LBS) is a converted tailback who has started at SS since his sophomore year. His scouting report tells that he still needs work learning the position but is a diligent worker who spends endless time watching film and practicing his craft. He is also a special teams coverage defender. Who will no doubt be a Mike Westhoff project.
