As the Jets try to keep their unbeaten streak rolling, the task will get more challenging as they found out they will be without starting G Pete Kendall and possibly also G Brandon Moore for the 49ers.

As the Jets try to keep their unbeaten streak rolling, the task will get more challenging as they found out they will be without starting G Pete Kendall and possibly also G Brandon Moore for the 49ers.

While the team has been relatively injury-free so far this season, the Bills game resulted in numerous injuries. Kendall suffered a contusion on his right toe early in yesterday’s game and although he played the rest of the game, Coach Herman Edwards already declared him out against the Niners. Kendall was seen hobbling at the complex today will take at least a week to rest it. RG Moore left the game early with a left hamstring injury and is doubtful this Sunday. He was replaced by C/G Jonathan Goodwin. If Moore can’t go he will likely again be replaced by Goodwin while T/G Brent Smith will fill in for Kendall.

Other players banged up yesterday were WR Santana Moss who strained his right hamstring and FS Rashad Washington who injured his right foot. Moss is probable and Washington is doubtful for Sunday. LB Sam Cowart remains out with a knee injury and CB Derrick Strait is questionable with a foot injury.

Even though the Jets are 4-0 for the first time since 2000, they have not been able to finish off their opponents this year. Jets Head Coach Herman Edwards feels his team needs to learn how to finish a team off.

“You don’t drop interceptions or passes,” Edwards said. “You don’t turn the ball over when your in scoring position. When you don’t do that, it becomes a tight football game. You can’t leave points on the field.”

Edwards also feels one of the reasons the Bills got back into the game was because of missed opportunities by the Jets.

“We turned ball over twice in Bills territory and generally you don’t survive when you turn the ball over twice,” the HC said. “I told them we dodged a bullet. We were minus one in turnovers.”

The Jets finally opened up the passing game and WR Wayne Chrebet had a breakout game with eight catches for 90 yards. Today at Hofstra, Edwards gave his assessment on Chrebet’s game.

“He had a good day,” Edwards said. “Wayne had to go in when Santana (Moss) got hurt and never missed a beat. He had fun being Wayne and getting open catching it. Wayne has done a good job accepting his role. he’s been a professional about it.”

The team hast Tuesday off and returns to begin preparation for the Niners on Wednesday. Be sure to check back to Jets Insider.com often for all of the latest NY Jets news.
