The Jets clicked on all cylinders yesterday, blowing out the Miami Dolphins, 41-14. The Jets are now 6-1 and will now prepare to face the Bills up in Buffalo this Sunday.

Head Coach Herman Edwards was pleased with the way his team responded after last week’s loss to the Patriots.

The Dolphins came into the game with the third-ranked defense in the NFL and the Jets exploited them all night, racking up 472 yards of total offense.

The Jets had two 100-yard rushers in a game for the first time since 1975 as RB Curtis Martin and RB Lamont Jordan each ran for 115 yards. Martin nicked his knee and Edwards said he could have come back in but by that point, the Jets had blown the game wide open.

“We were pulling away so it was time to get more players in the game,” Edwards said. “Lamont is excellent at coming off the boundary and just start running.”

Edwards said a lot of credit goes to the offensive line and that they will receive the game ball for this week. Edwards praised Jonathan Goodwin who has filled in at RG for Brandon Moore the past three games.

The Jets defense limited the Dolphins to 259 total yards while forcing three turnovers. The Jets front four of John Abraham, Dewayne Roberson, Jason Ferguson, and Shaun Ellis have stepped up big time. Edwards is pleased with their performance.

“You could tell as game going on we were dominating the ball,” Edwards said. “They are playing on a mission right now. They are hungry and putting pressure on the quarterback. Those guys are really playing physical up front. They set the tempo for your football team.”

The Jets are 4-0 at home this year and Edwards gave credit to the fans.

“Fans have been great,” Edwards said. “They’ve been vocal and loud. All those things working in your favor and you want to use it. Especially when teams play that are not in your division. For most part, crowd has helped us a lot. When you win, crowd is excited.”

MISCELLANEOUS TIDBITS: The Jets are 10-2 under Edwards in November…Edwards said the only thing he was not happy about was the six Jets penalties. It is uncharacteristic as the Jets are one of the least penalized teams in the NFL.

INJURY REPORT: The Jets got out of yesterday’s game with just a few dings. DE Shaun Ellis sprained his ankle, RB Curtis Martin suffered a minor contusion on his knee but could have gone back in, and G Brent Smith sprained his left knee and will have a MRI today to determine the severity of the injury. LB Sam Cowart and CB Derrick Strait will both practice this week.

-LB Jason Glenn (forearm): Out
-LB Sam Cowart (knee): Questionable
-CB Derrick Strait (foot): Questionable
-G Brandon Moore (hamstring): Questionable
-S Rashad Washington (foot): Questionable
-G/T Brent Smith (knee): TBD

The players have today off and will return tomorrow for meetings and a brief walk-through. The team will go back to full team practices on Thursday. The Jets will face another tough defense when they travel to Buffalo for a match-up with the 2-5 Bills on Sunday. The Bills defense is tied for second in the NFL with Tampa Bay. The Jets beat the Bills, 16-14, earlier this year at the Meadowlands. Check back to Jets for all the news as the Jets try to corral the Bills.
