Despite numerous hurdles and complications, the Jets have completed a trade with Washington that will bring WR Laveranues Coles back to the Jets. Despite numerous hurdles and complications, the Jets have completed a trade with Washington that will bring WR Laveranues Coles back to the Jets.

Various media sources are confirming the deal which will send WR Santana Moss to D.C. straight up for Coles.

The Jets had been in talks with the ‘Skins for the past few weeks regarding the deal and after Washington cleared cap space needed, it seemed the deal would be done. However, Coles balked at the trade in lieu of a contract extension which reports say was done by the Jets. Details of the extension were not available.

Coles now comes back to the Jets where again he will be the team’s top wideout threat alongside Justin McCareins. Coles had his best season as a pro in his last season with the Jets in 2002. The Redskins signed him to a $35MM contract that off-season as a restricted free agent which the Jets declined to match. The Jets received the Redskins’ first draft pick in the deal which they packaged with their own first round pick to Chicago to move up in the draft to select DT DeWayne Robertson.

More information on this deal will be following as we get it.
