Jets fans were chanting Clemson CBís Justin Millerís name at the Jacob Javitz Center just prior to the teamís first pick in the second round (#47) and boos could be heard as far away as Walls Street as Ohio State kicker Mike Nugentís name was read. However, Bradway and Co. got the last laugh as Miller was still available 10 picks later. After selecting Miller at 57, the Jets filled two huge needs at kicker and depth in their secondary.

ALSO: Jets take a Defensive Tackle in 3rd round.

Nugent was no doubt a bold pick by Bradway who now looks like a genius after getting an excellent kicker and a talented CB in round two. It was almost a lock that Nugent would have been taken by Minnesota two picks later at 49.

Nugent was by far the best kicker in this yearís draft and is probably the best prospect since Oaklandís Sebastian Jankowski in 2000.

Nugent hit 24 of 27 field goals last season for the Buckeyes and was and 65 of 74 ove the past three seasons. Other highlights last year included a 55 yarder and a school-record 17 consecutive FGís at home without a miss. Besides a tremendous talent, Nugent was also a team captain, a rarity for a kicker in college...especially Ohio State.

Athough at the time, the choice of a kicker with the 47th pick was a bit surprising and undoubtedly unpopular, the selection fills a huge needÖespecially after the erratic season that Doug Brien had in 2004 including his implosion in the playoffs against the Steelers which cost the Jets a trip to the AFC Championship. The selection of Nugent no doubt spells the end of Brienís career with Gang Green.

The selection of Miller with their second pick gives much needed depth in the secondary and also at kick returner due to the trade of Santana Moss to Washington.

The 5í9Ē junior is a playmaker in the secondary and the Jets had to be salivating when he was still available at 57. He was projected by some to go as high as the late first round. Millerís scouting report lists him as having great ball skills and a knack for making the big play with very good speed and quickness. Heís physical and likes to hit and is also a dynamic return man. Look for the team to use Miller immediately on special teams and in nickel and dime defensive packages.

In the third round the Jets selected Utah DT Sione Pouha.

Pouhaís (6í3Ē-325 Lbs) scouting report lists him as having excellent size and a wide frame. Heís a powerful presence on the field and is athletic with good speed and quickness with a lot of upside and potential.

On the downside, Pouha starts his NFL career at the age of 26 due to a four year hiatus on a church mission. Other weaknesses list him as being slow shedding blocks. He needs to get better at being handled at the point by single lineman. Heís currently not a nifty or nimble player and is more of a straight line defender.

Pouha as a third rounder is a bit of a gamble since most draft boards had him as a later round choice. Some even predicted him as being undrafted.

The Jetsí next pick is in the fourth round #127 overall. Check back to Jets Insider.com for all the latest NY Jets draft news!
