Jets Insider.com has learned through a source close to the team that two former Jets players will be joining Eric Manginiís coaching staff.

Former LB Bryan Cox and FB Richie Anderson are reportedly close to joining the Jets coaching staff. Cox as LB's coach replacing Bob Sutton who was promoted to defensive coordinator, and Anderson as an offensive assistant, likely as TEís or RBís coach. Team officials did not confirm the moves as of Tuesday afternoon.

Dick Curl, who coached the RBís last season, joined Herman Edwards in Kansas City and John Zernhelt, who was the TEís coach last season was not retained after Edwards left. Both Anderson and Cox have ties to Mangini from his time in NY under Bill Parcells and Cox also from his time in New England.

Cox, 37, played 12 seasons in the NFL and made the Pro Bowl 3 times. He was a member of the Jets from 1998-2000. After being released in 2001 from the team by Edwards during his first season as Jets coach, Cox then went north to play for Bill Belichick in New England where he was part of their first Superbowl team. He also played for Miami, Chicago and New Orleans during his career. Since his retirement in 2002, he has been an NFL commentator for ESPN.

Anderson, 35, is also a 12 year vet and former Pro Bowler who played his first 10 seasons for Gang Green. He ended his career in Dallas playing for Bill Parcells his final 2 seasons. Chronic injuries forced his retirement after the 2004 season.

The hirings further show Manginiís youth movement on his new Coaching staff and follow the hiring of 32 year old Brian Schottenheimer as offensive coordinator yesterday. Official announcements by the team are expected shortly.
