Various sources including AP are confirming that the Jets have traded franchise DE John Abraham to Atlanta in a three way deal with Denver.

The deal was completed tonight and it included Abraham signing a six year $45MM with over $15MM in guaranteed money.

The transaction finally worked out when Atlanta traded their first round pick to the Broncos (#15 overall) for Denver’s first round choice (# 29) and some undisclosed middle round picks in this year’s and next year’s draft. The Falcons then sent that pick to the Jets to complete the trade.

The Jets had agreed last week with Seattle to send Abraham to the Seahawks for their first round choice (#31) but Abe vetoed the deal, saying he wanted to play for the Falcons. Atlanta had offered their second round pick, but the Jets made it clear to all possible suitors that they would not accept anything less than a first round choice for the premier pass rusher.

JETS SIGN WR/KR DWIGHT: The Boston globe confirmed that the Jets signed WR/KR Tim Dwight to a four-year deal that included a a $750,000 signing bonus. The multi-talented 30 year old 8 year veteran caught 17 passes for 332 yards and 3 TD's for the Patriots last season and also returned 32 punts for an 8.5 Yd. average and 10 kickoffs with a 25 yard average. Dwight also played for Atlanta and San Diego during his career.
