With USC QB Matt Leinart still on the board at the number 4 slot the Jets were in a sticky situation. Do they take the glitzy potential franchise QB from Hollywood or do they select a tackle in Virginia’s D’Brickashaw Ferguson, who could be the cornerstone of their offensive line for the next decade? In the end, Ferguson was the choice.

The 6'6" 312 Lb. Ferguson, who grew up in Freeport Long Island which is a stones throw from the Jets complex in Hempstead, comes home. He will be an instant starter on the left side of the Jets line which used to be occupied by Jason Fabini who was released earlier this year.

Ferguson is a spectacular pass blocker and with Chad Pennington coming off two shoulder surgeries, that's great news as he will protect the QB's blind side. Ferguson's run blocking needs some tuning and the Jets' coaching staff will undoubtedly work to better these skills.

Reports have surfaced that the Jets attempted to move up to New Orleans' #2 spot to draft USC RB Reggie Bush but the Saints' asking price was way to rich.

The Jets select again in the first round at the 29th spot with the pick they acquired from Atlanta in the John Abraham trade.
