After trading the #35 pick to Washington in the second round, the Jets traded up for Dallas’ # 48 pick to draft Oregon QB Kellen Clemens.

In return for the move up the Jets give Dallas the #53 pick they acquired from the Redskins earlier in the day as well as a 6th (#189) and 7th (#211) round pick.

The 6’2” 224 LB Clemens, a three year starter for Oregon, was rated by some draft experts as high as the 4th QB in the pool this year. His scouting report touts him as a high percentage pass completer with excellent faking and timing skills. On the negative side, he needs work on his intermediate to long passes as well eluding pass rushers. He’s said to be a hard worker and a good leader on the field. He completed 60% of his passes last season before fracturing his ankle in his 8th start and missing the remainder of the season.

The Jets next selection is in the 3rd round, #71 overall.
