The Jets signed three more draft choices today by inking third rounders S Eric Smith and LB Anthony Schlegel as well as fourth round WR/QB Brad Smith.

S Eric Smith,(6-1, 209LBS), played at Michigan State University and was selected in the third round with the 97th overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft. The pick was awarded to the Jets as a compensatory selection.

He's, a native of Groveport, OH, played in 23 games over the past two seasons, while posting over 100 tackles in both campaigns. His 101 tackles in his senior campaign ranked first and his two interceptions ranked second on the Spartans. His 323 career tackles rank 13th in school history, and posted 13 games with double-digit tackles as a Spartan.

Schlegel (6’0”-250 LBS) was a 2 year starter for the Buckeyes who started his college career at Air Force. A great run stopper, Schlegel had 82 tackles as a senior for OSU. He was selected by the Jets in the third round with the the 76th overall pick.

Although at press time the Jets did not officially announce Schlegel's signing, the move was confimed to Jets Insider.com by ESPN Radio's Peter Schwartz.

WR/QB Brad Smith, (6-2, 210 LBS) fron the University of Missouri, was selected in the fourth round with the 103rd overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft. Smith spent his four years at Missouri playing quarterback for the school and finished his career with 13,088 yards of total offense and holds the school records for rushing touchdowns, with 42 and passing touchdowns, with 56.

Smith is the only player in NCAA history with 8,000 yards passing and 4,000 yards rushing. He also becomes the only player to twice throw for 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in the same season, when he accomplished the feat in his freshman and senior years, just missing again in his sophomore year. The Jets plan to convert Smith to a WR in the NFL.

The signing of the above players leaves five draft picks left to ink before players report for camp next Thursday.
