According to wire services, Jets veteran CB Justin Miller was arrested early Sunday morning for allegedly punching a woman in the face.

The incident occured in a NYC nightclub and shortly after, Miller was arrested by the NYPD and charged with misdemenor assault.

Reportedly the assault took place when Miller was arguing with an unidentified man. Apparently he took a swing at the man and after the man ducked he hit the woman by accident.

Miller issued the following statement after his arrest:

"I want to apologize to everyone for this situation, including my family, my teammates, the Jets organization, our fans and the entire NFL," Miller said in a statement released on Sunday. "I understand that serving in the NFL is an honor and that I have an obligation to behave in a manner that reflects the privilege I have been given."

The team has not announced any type of diciplinary actions as of yet but issued a statement of their own on Sunday:

We expect our players to adhere to the highest standards of conduct off the field and take any allegation of personal misconduct very seriously," the team said in a statement on Sunday. "We are in the process of gathering information, and have notified the commissioner -- in light of the NFL's new conduct policy. Until we've had an opportunity to review all the facts we will refrain from further comment."

Miller, who was a 2nd round pick of the Jets in 2005, made the Pro Bowl last season as a kick returner but has been a disappointment as a CB. To add strength to the secondary, the Jets traded up and drafted CB Darrelle Revis last month in the first round.
