The Jets announced they have signed OL Jacob Bender, the team's sixth-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.
Bender (6-6, 315, Nicholls State), the 177th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, played in 42 games over four years at Nicholls State, starting 31 contests. From Mayo, MD, Bender was a two-time All-Southland Conference First Team selection for Nicholls where he helped lead the Colonels to their first Southland Conference championship in 2005. He was named a third-team Sports Network Division I-AA All-American in 2006.
Details of the deal were undisclosed but sources have told Jets Insider.com that the deal is for five years with a signing bonus in the $100,000 range. The team now has three draft choiced left to sign in first round CB Darrelle Revis, second round LB David Harris and seventh round WR Chansi Stuckey. Camp begins for the Jets on Friday July 27.
