The Jets announced the signing of free agents C Charles Missant and P Jeremy Kapinos.
Missant (6-3, 295, Western Michigan) was originally signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free in 2005 and has participated in Jets’ training camp in both 2005 and 2006. In 2006 he was allocated by the Jets to the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europa where he won a World Bowl championship. In 2007, he joined Frankfurt for a second season and helped the Galaxy to their second consecutive World Bowl appearance.
Kapinos (6-1, 235, Penn State) punted at Penn State for four seasons, averaging 41.8 yards per punt with a career long of 78 yards. Kapinos was a finalist for the 2006 Ray Guy Award (nations’ top punter) and was a third team All-American selection by the Associated Press. His 247 punts and 10,326 yards are tops in Penn State history.
