The Jets started their 2007 training camp this morning and for the first time since the Parcells era, they begin with a holdout. Top pick CB Darrelle Revis is still unsigned and was not at practice.
Sources tell JI that the team and Revis' agent worked late into last night to complete a deal but could not come to an agreement. Some reports say the sticking point is the length of the deal where the Jets want six years and Revis wants five.
With the Revis holdout it marks the first time Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum starts the season without all of his draft picks signed. His preadecessor, Terry Bradway had no holdouts in his six years as the teamís GM. The last rookie holdout was in 1997 with top pick LB James Farrior when Bill Parcells was GM and coach.
The team had no comment on the situation but Head Coach Eric Mangini has his daily press conference scheduled for 11:30 AM today.
