Disgruntled Jets G Pete Kendall has been traded to the Washington Redskins, Head Coach Eric Mangini revealed in a Thursday afternoon press conference. New York is said to be receiving a fourth round pick in 2009, and possibly a fifth round pick as well, in exchange for Kendall.

Kendall had been requesting that he be traded or released since the beginning of the offseason, once Jets' GM Mike Tannenbaum made it clear that the team would not renegotiate his contract for more money. Kendall was one year into a four year contract that was set to pay him $1.7MM this coming season, but believed that his play in 2006 waranted a $1MM salary hike for the upcoming season.

Although the veteran was been present at training camp, he continuously expressed his animousity towards the front office by verbally bashing them to the media daily and isolating himself in practices.

With Kendall gone, rookie-G Jacob Bender and veteran-G Adrian Clarke appear to be the front-runners for the starting left guard spot, assuming the Jets do not bring in someone else.
