The Jets hope TE Bubba Franks can regain some of his old form.
The Jets added depth to their TE corps by signing former veteran Packer Bubba Franks. Although it hasnít been officially announced by the team, the signing was confirmed by more than one source.
The 30 year old Franks (6í6Ē-265 Lbs) was a former first round pick of the Packers in 2001 and during his first four seasons was one of the most feared receiving TEís in the league with 25 TDís. During that time he also made three Pro-Bowls. However, since the 2005 season, his production declined considerably, scoring zero TDís during that time. Heís also been hobbled by injuries. He was cut earlier this year by Green Bay for salary cap reasons.
The Jets hope Franks can regain some of his early career form and despite his decreased receiving production, he is still one of the better run blockers in the league. He will serve as Chris Bakerís backup and will surely be used in double TE formations
