A day after being discarded for Brett Favre, QB Chad Pennington got a bit of redemption as he wasted no time and signed a multi-year deal with the Jets' arch rival Dolphins tonight.
The deal is being confirmed by multiple sources and comes only hours after Pennington had his final conference call with NY Beat writers this afternoon where he confirmed he was in talks with Miami as well as other teams.
Ironically, the the moves the Packers made with Favre to prevent him from going to a divison rival were not done by the Jets with Pennington and now it could come back to bite them.
Pennington, entering his ninth year in the NFL, will compete and will be the instant frontrunner for the Dolphins starting QB job. He is also reunited with the man who drafted him, Bill Parcells who was hired to be the Dolphins' new football Czar last December. ESPN is reporting that Pennngton's deal is for 2 years worth $11.5MM which is in line with what he was making in NY.
Miami's QB situation had been very dicey as unproven Josh McCown, John Beck and rookie Chad Henne have been battling it out in camp with none distinguishing themselves.
The Dolphins were 1-15 last year and open the season at home against, you guessed it....the NY Jets.
Just when you though the drama was over.
