Although no one outside of the Jets' Florham Park Complex knows the extent of Jets K Mike Nugent's thigh injury, it's serious enough that the Jets signed veteran journeyman kicker Jay Feely this evening.

The seven year veteran, who played all of last year for the Miami Dolphins also played for the Giants in 2005-2006 so he's familar with kicking in the Meadowlands. Feely also played for the Falcons and was signed by the Chiefs earlier this month but was released after just one day. As reported earlier on JI, the Jets also brought in kickers Dave Rayner and Aaron Elling for tryouts today.

Nugent injured himself while kicking off yesterday against Miami and Head Coach Eric Mangini called the injury to his "leg" but reports have said he strained his thigh. The extent of the injury or how long Nugent may be sidelined is unknown at this time. It's also unknown who the Jets released to free up a roster spot for Feely.
