After much speculation since the hiring of new Head Coach Rex Ryan, multiple sources are confirming that Jets Offensive Coordinator has decided to stay with the Jets in the same capacity.

Shottenheimer was a leading contender to take over for Eric Mangini after he was fired on December 29 and when he was passed over for Ryan earlier this week, there was speculation that he would leave the team. After meeting with both Owner Woody Johnson and the new coach, he decided to stay. Shottenheimer had one year left on his contract and reports say part of the deal to remain included a multi-year extension, with a pay raise.

Now that Shotteheimer is staying aboard, the main specualtion turns to whether QB Brett Favre will return. The answer to that question still likely won't come for several weeks or more.
