Favre to Retire

By Jets Insider.com Staff
February 11th, 2009
ESPN is reporting that Jets QB Brett Favre has instructed his agent Bus Cook to tell the Jets that he is officially retiring today.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise as many speculated Favre would take several weeks or even months to make a decision on whether he would return to the Jets.

The move will save the Jets over 13 million on this year's salary cap but now speculation will begin on who will lead the Jets offense in 2009. No doubt that veteran Kellen Clemens and raw talent Brett Ratliff will be battling it out but look for the team to add a veteran QB to compete as well.
