The Jets-Patriots long time player shuffle continued today as Gang Green signed UFA LB Larry Izzo, who played the past eight seasons in New England.
The 34 year Izzo, joins the Jets with the hope of bolstering special teams (a three time Pro-Bowl special teamer) and adds depth at LB, both areas that the Jets need help with since David Bowens signed with Cleveland yesterday. Bowens was released last month during the team's salary cap purge but was reportedly hoped to be re-signed to a more cap-friendly deal.
Before playing with the Pats, Izzo was with Miami, where he played for Jets Special Teams Coordinator Mike Westhoff.
