Jets QB Mark Sanchez had decided to have surgery to fix his left knee while Head Coach Rex Ryan was disciplined by the team today for an obscene gesture he was caught giving at a Miami MMA event this past weekend.
Sanchez’s decision to fix a lingering posterior cruciate ligament that he injured while in college comes after he was examined by world renowned sports orthopedic surgeon James Andrews last week. The procedure will take place sometime in the next few weeks by Jets physician Ken Montgomery and recovery time should be no longer than a few months. He should be more than ready by June OTA’s.
Sanchez’s right knee, which he banged up against Buffalo in December will be rehabbed naturally this off-season.
Other news out of Florham Park today is that Head Coach Rex Ryan was fined $50K for an obscene gesture that he made at a Miami MMA event this past weekend. Ryan, reportedly mixed it up with some Dolphins fans at the event and was caught by a cell phone camera flipping the crowd the bird.
Ryan the next day acknowledged and apologized for the incident and admitted it was “stupid and inappropriate”.
No word yet if the league will take any diciplinary action against Ryan.
