RB Jones signs with Chiefs

Just four days after being cut from the Jets, veteran RB Thomas Jones signed with Kansas City. The Jets reportedly were interested in re-signing the team's leading rusher for the past three seasons but instead Jones took a deal that paid him half of what he made in NY.

Jones' contract with the Chiefs has been reported as a two year contract for $5MM and he didn't even give his old team an opportunity to re-sign him. It's surprising that the talented RB took such a pay cut to play for a rebuilding team that finished 4-12 last season.

The Jets are now a bit uncertain at RB. While they have a healthy Shonn Greene who they will make as the feature back next season, next on the depth chart is Leon Washington who is recovering from a broken fibula and is a RFA who has drawn interest from a few teams. After that they basically have no one. You would assume that the team will be doing due dillegence to find more veteran depth at the position, however GM Mike Tannenbaum said in a Q&A session on Sunday that no one is on their radar at present. Stay tuned.
