Veteran RB LaDanian Tomlinson will fill the RB void left by Thomas Jones.
The Jets added needed depth to their running back corps on Sunday night when veteran RB LaDainian Tomlinson agreed to a two year deal.
The signing was confirmed by Tomlinson's agent, Tom Condon this evening and reports say the deal is for two years at around $5MM which is nearly identical to the contract former Jets RB Thomas Jones signed with the Chiefs eariler this week.
Tomlinson, who ranks eighth on the NFL all time career rushing list with nearly 12,500 yards will back up second year RB Shonn Greene. The nine year veteran chose the Jets over the Vikings who heavily courted him before he met with Jets brass on Friday and Saturday.
Condon told AP earlier tonight that the ten year veteran "wanted to go to a team that he thought had a chance to compete for a championship."
Tomlinson, who turns 31 in June, rushed for 730 yeards and 12 TD's last season with the Chargers.
