Jets make roster moves, cut veteran DT Dixon

The Jets claimed three players off waivers today NT Isaako Aaitui (MIA), WR Clyde Gates (MIA) and TE Konrad Reuland (SF). To make room on the roster, the team and waived S Antonio Allen,TE Dedrick Epps and veteran DT Marcus Dixon. The team also signed seven players to the practice squad.

Claimed off Waivers:

Aaitui (NT/6-4/315/UNLV/Pago Pago, American Samoa) entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Miami and spent most of last season on their practice squad. He was in Dolphins camp this summer and was released yesterday.

Gates (WR/5-11/197/Abilene Christian/Vernon, TX), is a former fourth-round draft pick by Miami in 2011, caught two passes last season for 19 yards and returned 34 kickoffs for 843 yards (24.3 average). He spent training camp with the Dolphins prior to being waived (08/31/12).

Reuland (TE/6-4/260/Stanford/Mission Viejo, CA) was initially signed as an undrafted free agent with San Francisco last season and spent all of the year on their practice squad.

Waived players, S Antonio Allen (6-1/210/South Carolina/Ocala, FL) was a seventh round pick by the Jets this season. TE Dedrick Epps (6-3/250/Miami (FL)/Richmond, VA) was a former Chargers seventh round pick who spent time on their and Miami's practice squad before being signed by NY this off-season. DT Marcus Dixon (6-4/295/Hampton/Rome, GA) is a surprise, as he has been on the team since 2010 after being claimed from the Cowboys. He has been a productive lineman in the rotation where last season he had 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
