After no picks in round four the Jets went back to filling defensive needs by drafting a Safety and another Defensive Tackle in round five. After no picks in round four the Jets went back to filling defensive needs by drafting a Safety and another Defensive Tackle in round five.

With the release of Safety Damien Robinson the Jets addressed needed depth in the position by drafting Iowa Safety Derek Pagel with pick #140. Pagel (6-1, 208 Lbs), had 90 tackles, 4 interceptions, 6 passes defended, one forced fumble, and one blocked punt last year for Iowa and was the captain of Special Teams. He should be an instant contributor on special teams for the Jets.

With their second pick in the fifth round the Jets added another defensive tackle by drafting Univeristy of Miami DT Matt Walters.

Walters (6-4, 272 Lbs) was a full time starter for the Hurricaines last year and had 64 tackles and five sacks. He joins a suddenly very crowded Jets defensive line corp.

The Jets have two more picks in the draft. One in the sixth round pick (#200), and one in the seventh (#237).
