The gets closed out the NFL draft on Sunday by adding a Quarterback and Guard to the roster….
With two picks left in Sundays draft, the Jets drafted Wisconsin QB Brooks Bollinger and Temple Tackle Dave Yovantovis.
Both picks are projects. Bollinger (6-1, 217 Lbs), a three-year starter for the Badgers will be a candidate to replace the aging QB Vinny Testaverde as backup for Chad Pennington in the future. The Jets chose Bollinger over Miami QB Ken Dorsey who was still on the board.
Yovantovis (6-3, 294 Lbs), who will be an extreme long shot to make the team, played tackle at Temple but is projected to switched to guard. With the departure of Randy Thomas to Washington, the Jets could use some more depth here.
Temple DT Dan Klecko, the son of Jets legend NT Joe Klecko was selected in the fourth round by the Jets bitter division rival, New England Patriots. Many Jets fans were hoping the Jets would draft Klecko. However, there was no need to add any more DTs to the Jets already overcrowded line with that high of a pick. Does this mean that Joe is now a Patsie fan??? Say it isn’t so, Joe!!
The team will now begin to sign rookie free agents. They have reportedly already signed Miami of Ohio RB Chad Brinker (5-10, 205) and have also offered CW Post and local star RB Ian Smart a tryout.
