Sixth round pick QB Brooks Bollinger must have made a very nice impression this weekend at minicamp because the Jets waived backup veteran QB Todd Husak today. Husak was signed by the Jets last season from the practice squad to the active roster after Miami had shown interest in signing him. He had been the Jets #3 QB since.

Besides Husak, team also cut rookie free agents TE Lyle Weaver (Army) and CB DeMario Suggs (Michigan State). G Faaesea Mailo who was signed as a rookie free agent last season and spent time on the Jets practice squad in 2002, was also waived.

The Jets also announced the signing of seven year veteran FA T Brent Smith. Terms were not disclosed but the deal is likely a one year veteran minimum deal. Smith, who has spent his entire career with Miami has missed the past two seasons due to MCL and ACL injuries on both of his knees.
